NASW-VA Committees
NASW-VA supports and advances the interests of individual social workers and the social work profession through a number of committees and special interest groups.

Accreditation Commitee The Accreditation Committee’s mission is to expand accredited educational opportunities to NASW-VA members. Committee members review and authorize education programs and workshops submitted by outside vendors for approval for continuing education credit.
Awards Committee The Awards Selection Committee is responsible for facilitating the selection process of the Social Worker of the Year, Public Citizen of the Year, and Lifetime Achievement Awards. The committee prepares a call for award nominations to be placed in the chapter newsletter, and recommends selections to the Board of Directors for approval.
Education Committee The mission of the Program Committee is to develop and implement Chapter-sponsored continuing education programs and workshops designed to meet the professional and educational needs of the membership. Committee members also help in the planning of the annual Continuing Education Conference.
Ethics Committee The primary responsibility of this Committee is to hear complaints filed in accordance with the Association’s policy for adjudication of grievances. The goal of the adjudication process is to take action that protects the public from practices that violate the Code of Ethics and to protect NASW members against exploitation and injustice in employment.
The Committee is composed of NASW-VA members who, upon receipt of a complaint, may convene a hearing panel to investigate any allegations, make a determination of facts, and assess sanctions against a member or agency. The Ethics Commitee is authorized to investigate allegations of violations of the Code of Ethics by a member of the chapter/association.
Legislative Committee The primary responsibility of this committee is to develop a legislative agenda with regard to professional and social justice issues. The committee:
- tracks legislative and regulatory issues impacting the profession of social work
- develops and recommends positions and strategies for pursuing these issues
- informs members about public policy issues that affect them as professional social workers
NLIC- Nominations, Leadership, Identification Commitee Elected positions for 2-year term. Mission is to identify members willing and able to assume leadership positions within the chapter infrastructure.
Virginia PACE Virginia PACE is the Chapter’s Political Action committee for electoral politics. Virginia Political Action for Candidate Election (VA-PACE) endorses and supports candidates for election who are supportive of human services and concerns of social workers throughout the state.
