Miller, MFA, MSW, ACSW has more than 20 years experience developing and presenting cutting-edge continuing education workshops. Her most recent workshop topics have included Communication Skills and Problem Solving, Neurolinguistics and Unscripted Theater, and Communication for Loving Relationships. Ms. Miller earned an MFA in Painting from Catholic University in 1978 and went on to earn an MSW with a specialization in Family Therapy in 1980.
Description:
Asperger Syndrome is the most recent diagnosis added to the DSMIV and can be confused with a number of other diagnosis. Great care needs to be taken in diagnosing special needs children so that they can receive the tutoring they need when they enter school. This presentation covers the many functions of social workers, how to support and educate parents and teachers. How to work with children using cognitive behavioral therapy and how to be an effective influence on the medical, insurance and educational systems for the benefit of the special needs child.
