Description:
The focus of the workshop is on intervention and treatment of families affected by substance use disorder. Many may also have co-occurring illness or military trauma. Another goal is to assist these families with the " process of forgiveness", often, this is also a major concern. The "process of forgiveness" is mandatory in families where members feel a sense of betrayal, resentment, distrust and anger toward the addict; this 'process' leads to family healing and recovery.
This presentation provides information and education about various traumas, such as sexual trauma, interpersonal relationship violence, combat and physical abuse; all of which can lead to co-occurring illness which often may affect substance abusers.
